Along the way, we will encounter landscapes and towns of great interest, where we will have the opportunity to stop for photos and explore their charms up close.
One of the first stops could be Ifrane, known as the ‘Moroccan Switzerland’, due to its striking buildings with gabled roofs. In winter, this city is covered in snow, as it is situated at an altitude of 1,713 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Middle Atlas. As we advance, the landscape becomes greener and more wooded, as we will see in the Cedar National Park, located between Ifrane and Azrou. This park is also known as the ‘Monkey Park’ due to the endangered Barbary macaques that inhabit it.
Once we cross the Middle Atlas, we will traverse the Ziz Valley, the largest oasis in Morocco, until we reach Erfoud, a city famous for its wealth in fossils and marble quarries, marking the entrance to the desert. Shortly after, we will arrive at the final stop, Merzouga, where we will ride camels (which can also be replaced by 4×4 vehicles). With these majestic animals, we will reach the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes. In this golden sea, we will witness the magical glow of the sunset over the landscape.
Our camel ride will finally lead us to our camp of jaimas, located in the heart of the desert. There, we will be welcomed with Berber tea as a gesture of hospitality.
