MOROCCO DESERT. THE SAHARA IN MEZOURGA

Embark on an unparalleled adventure through the soul of authentic Morocco.

Have you ever felt the magic of the Sahara under your feet?

The true essence of Morocco is revealed when you leave your footprints in the golden dunes of Merzouga.

We propose a dream journey lasting four days and three nights, immersing you in landscapes that seem taken from a movie. We will depart from the vibrant pulse of Marrakech, rising through the majestic High Atlas. Along our route, we will witness the legendary kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the cinematic Studio Atlas, the mysterious kasbah Taourirt, and the fragrant valleys of roses and Dades, where the night will wrap us in its starry mantle.

At the break of dawn on the second day, we will immerse ourselves in the heart of the Todra Valley and its imposing gorges. The millennial legacy of Erfoud awaits us with its fossils before reaching the highlight: the immensity of the Merzouga desert, where the sunset becomes an ethereal spectacle. Photography enthusiasts will find a perfect moment to immortalize at every corner.

The silence of the dawn will guide us to the most sublime sunrise you have ever witnessed. After enjoying a traditional breakfast, we will resume our return journey, filled with discoveries: from the ancestral Soko of Erissani to the cinematic Ouarzazate, dubbed the Hollywood of Morocco, where the night will provide us with a well-deserved rest under the stars.

Before concluding our odyssey, the kasbah of Taourirt and, for those who desire one last charm, the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou will welcome us. The road will take us back to Marrakech, but not before crossing the mystical pass of Tizi N’tichka in the Atlas. Finally, we will return to the beating heart of the Red City, Marrakech, the imperial jewel of Morocco.

The Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou

The Kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou is located near the city of Ouarzazate, at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. It has been a strategic point on trade routes between the Sahara and Marrakech. Although the current structure dates primarily from the 17th century, the site is believed to have been occupied since around 1000 AD. It is mainly built of clay and straw, giving it its characteristic reddish color. The ksar includes communal houses, granaries, and mosques, all protected by defensive walls with towers decorated with geometric motifs. Due to its state of conservation and cultural relevance, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Additionally, it has served as a setting for famous movies like “Game of Thrones,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” “Gladiator,” and “Kingdom of Heaven.” This rich cinematic history has contributed to its international recognition and attracts tourism. Thousands of visitors come annually to appreciate not only its historical and architectural importance but also its scenic beauty, especially during sunrise and sunset.
